The Zero-axiom
On the ultimate reality, from my work.
The following article focuses on the key concept from my philosophical hodge-podge, and does it very badly. Although what may appear as an semi-academic, and semi-logical framework, actually tucks beneath it an anxious man who knows not what he is talking about. In fact, it can be easily taken as high fantasy, and it would probably be safer that way. You could say that the real author of this blog post is the great universe. I am marely the messenger. And the messenger has a habit of distorting the message.
Before the Great Divide, there was the Undivided. Before the multiplicity, the singular. Before the scattered, the collected. And so it was that the Thought which put forward the dream, was but a passing fancy. As the cosmos would return back to the center one day.
There are no separate events. Only the trapped will think so. The bird which is to spread it its wings, and fly out the cage, notices that the cage is its own doing.
The cage door wide open, yet it cannot reach it. The bird has forgotten how to fly. It sees its existence as the cage. Nothing will convince it otherwise except if 27it could take flight and transcend the cage.
Then something happens. The bird suddenly remembers. It spreads it wings, and lifts itself above the cage floor. It flies through the opening. The bird sees that what had divided its existence from the rest of the world was the cage it had made.
But it was now left behind and vanished from the bird’s field of vision. It was replaced by freedom. Our cage is our perception. It inherently divides things and events by selection. If we are to fly free, we must change our perception to knowledge.
I’ll start by saying, then briefly, what the Zero is. It is the reality underlying everything, all the multiplicity in our cosmos, all the dualities, the conflicts, the disarray, the randomness. It is singular, unifying, eternal and immanent.
Various people and traditions of the world has, throughout the ages, had a peculiar shift in conscious content, most often all of a sudden, out of the blue, and that shift has the capacity to turn one’s whole world-view upside down. Of seeing through “the game.”
And due to this shift, the individual no longer feels themselves as an isolated centre of awareness, a stranger on Earth, but as if the whole external cosmos were an extension of their body. What they essentially have is the experience of the ultimate reality, which I happen to call The Zero-axiom.
I will start by laying out the actual argument from my book, so we have something to chew on along the way. So here it is:
The Zero Argument
The definitions:
1. Zero - (a) The immutable, eternal and singular reality, which
encompasses everything.
(b) Immutability means it has no temporal nature itself as
a whole, therefore cannot be transformed like
energy, otherwise it wouldn't be eternal in the first
place.
(c) Beyond human capacity, description and conceptions.
(d) Capacity means the ability to imagine.
2. Unity - A totality where all things are joined.
3. Multiplicity - A disintegrated collection of things which are not
all seemingly joined.
4. Selection - A process of picking out input from our visual field or
awareness, thereby reducing the available information to a smaller
field, excluding other input outside it at the same time.
The argument:
1. Only the Zero reality is.
(a) Zero is the unifying reality where all aspects and parts are
one.
(b) Zero encompasses all phenomena, including those we perceive
as distinct or separated.
(c) The Zero reality is dynamic and involves active creation of
multiple universes that continuously dissolves and are
recreated throughout eternity.
(d) These multiple universes are always connected and thus one.
2. Multiplicity in the universe is in reality a unity.
(a) Unity is reality as being "undivided".
(b) Undivided means seeing or experiencing a synthesis between
separate things.
(c) The single most unifying or synthesizing aspect between all
things is the mind.
(d) We cannot think without the mind; we also cannot measure,
navigate, or build anything without it.
(e) Theories like the Integrated Information Theory (IIT) propose
that consciousness arises when information is integrated across
various neural networks in a manner that produces a singular
experiential entity from multiple data sources (e.g., sensory
inputs).
(f) Empirical studies using virtual reality or multi-sensory
environments show how altering perceptual inputs can lead
participants to experience altered senses of self-location or
body ownership (e.g., rubber hand illusion), illustrating
again how subjective interpretations mediated by the mind
unify various sensations into coherent personal realities.
(g) All perceived separations in multiplicity stem from
subjective sensory experiences processed by individual
minds.
(h) Therefore, the mind is the unifier of multiplicity.
3. What prevents us from seeing this unity are limitations in our awareness.
(a) We create this limitation through selection and ignorance.
(b) Our biological senses are inherently selective and not capable
of perceiving all aspects of reality simultaneously.
(c) Ignorance is created when we exclude information.
(d) Ignorance should be understood not merely as the absence of
knowledge but as a dynamic condition where information is
either unavailable, unobserved, or intentionally disregarded.
(e) Ignorance involves both passive and active elements—the former
being unawareness of certain truths due to constraints in
perception or comprehension, and the latter being the
dismissal or avoidance of available information.
(f) Our knowledge constructions are always approximations rather
than complete pictures; thus ignorance can be seen as an
inevitable feature of human condition attempting to grasp
Zero.
4. Limited does not mean separate; it means proportional to totality.
5. Human cognition is structured in a way that inherently limits our
ability to perceive all aspects of reality simultaneously. This
limitation isn't simply about sensory input but also about
cognitive processing capabilities.
6. These cognitive restrictions lead to a necessarily incomplete
apprehension of reality—what philosopher Donald Rumsfeld famously
referred to as "known unknowns" and "unknown unknowns."
7. While ignorance makes our perceptions limited and thus only
fractionally representative of Zero, this does not equate with
disconnection from it. Thus Zero is not apart from beings that
experience or perceive things.
C. Limited perceptions do not change underlying oneness but only
affect apparent separateness.
C2. Therefore, perception is merely a lens for filtering reality
through our limited awareness creating a sense of separation from
unity or singular reality, called Zero.
Whew. Now that is a mindful. It means essentially that the world as we ordinarily experience it, that is to say, as a collection of independent, separate things and events, is false. And we arrive at this experience through selection, of picking out with our conscious attention certain features of it, and then pretending as if they actually existed as such.
Our perception does this almost automatically, and this is further driven into us by our childhood experience of the subtle process of elimination that is put upon us by our parents. Where we are told which features are noteworthy, and which are not.
The pattern recognition of, what I will call “contrast-awareness”, was carefully worked out by a field of psychology in the 20th century known as Gestalt. They noticed that our attention goes to the relatively highlighted, instead of the diffused, to the edges, instead of their surrounding areas. We select the moving, instead of the still, and the more contrast a “thing” has, the more we pay attention.
So this is, then, the main reason why we come to feel distant from the universe. Because we start thinking that we ourselves are quite apart from it, as is hinted by our selective consciousness. However, many sciences of today have started to notice, that things might be connected at a much deeper level than we initially thought.
That there can be shown to have patterns and repetition existing even in the most random, chaotic complex systems. All randomness is a matter of tuning out the human mind of its capability to recognize known patterns. In reality, such attempts are meaningless to all matters of practicality. We entertain ourselves with the notion because, oddly, it gives some people a sense of security, if they can obfuscate the information out of sight.
Now then. I’m going to present some ideas right out of the discarded and first version of the book, as I wrote it back in 2022. The work that is now in progress will hopefully arrange some material to give it more sensibility. As what follows next is just plain batshit insanity. This is from the original chapter about Zero:
Absolute Beinglessness
There is the Zero-axiom. Zero is what there is, always was, and always will be. It contains every point, and no point, simultaneously. It is the Beinglessness of Non-Being. It is the Unmoving Ultimate Reality.
The Zero-axiom is causeless, and its cause. It has no beginning, nor end. It is everywhere, and nowhere. It is beyond concepts, words, numbers, or abstract images. Every unitary Being, is this Absolute Reality, or Zero. So, the Zero-axiom has no relation to Being itself or beings in the cosmos. Because by definition, all points are contained in the Zero. And Zero is all points. Ergo, it is not existing in a relationship to the points, like an external deity.
The Zero is occupying all possible points simultaneously because its velocity is, in a sense, at its maximal mark. Yet, this velocity is not, however, motion as such, as we will see. There is a sort of unchanging, enduring essence, were it not for the connotation of substance we give to the word essence. The Zero is not substance, in that it is composed of residual bits. But it is substance in the sense of being that which cannot be divided further.
The first aspect of it is Beinglessness itself. It is presence of being, but not being as we know it in ourselves. You could say that it is being beyond itself. The second aspect of Zero is Abstract Motion, but it is not relative motion as we understand it. This Motion is identical to consciousness in the post-cosmic mode, but it is not consciousness as we know it in ourselves.
This Motion is latent in the pre-cosmic mode. The third aspect of it is Abstract Space. Again, it is not space as we see it in the three dimensions. This Space is what will comprise the so-called “matter” in the post-cosmic mode.
So the Triangle of Zero-axiom looks like the following:
BEINGLESSNESS
/ \
/ \
/ \
/ ZERO \
/ \
/ \
MOTION−−−−−−−−−−−−−SPACE
Now, the Zero-axiom is all these different aspects, in that they are all simultaneously the one Zero. They do not stand apart from the centre. And the centre is everywhere. Yet, the circumference is nowhere.
So the cosmos, in relation to the Zero, would look like:
BEINGLESSNESS
/ \
ABSTRACT−−−−/ \
/ ZERO \
/ (ULTIMATE) \
/ \
MOTION−−−−−−−−−−−−−−SPACE
THEY ARE |
ALL ZERO |
DIVISION
|
ENERGY
/ \
TANGIBLE−−−−/ \
/ \
/ \
SPACE−−−MOTION
So, the Division, is a “slower form” of this occupation of all points. What enables tangible Energy in the end, is the density or speed of the Zero as it is slowed down, or rather, one of its aspect is slowed down. So it is immutable and moving because of the cosmos simultaneously.
Furthermore, the pre-Division (cosmic) mode has, according to some, pre-Division Substance, which is “created” from its corresponding Space, which then enables the three-dimensional tangible space, which in actuality has no dimensions in itself.
It is only the Energy that is moving within it, which creates the so-called dimensions. You cannot think without space, and yet you cannot think of it directly. One could say that space is, then, the “membrane” for motion. Motion is essential, both in the abstract and the tangible. But the latter is what gives our perception the notion that there are “bodies” in it.
Circular Thinking
Now, the first event that ever took place, before even the pre-Division Substance, or the Division itself, aeons and aeons ago, was a circle. You had to draw the line somewhere. And where you drew it, determined the sphere of action. This circle, which is known as the Celestial Lattice, on which the “Sparks of Eternity” appear is the plane, on which the cycles of myriads of universes take place.
The circle develops eventually a dot in its centre, which distinguishes Abstract Motion from Abstract Space. Without the dot, or the dimensionless Space, nothing would happen. But note, that this circle is not a geometric shape, in that it has limits. Rather, it is a formless shape.
The circle and its properties are comprised of two aspects, one called Abstract Form, the other called Abstract Space. The Form is that which delineates the outer perimeter from its inner Space. Otherwise, there would be nothing to talk about, and this article would be pure air.
The inner Space is the formless interior in this “Reflection.” It is the Thought of the Zero as it expands. Ergo, it is absolutely abstract. The dot will eventually create a diameter, which is the “division” between Form and Space. Again, this is not true division, but it has to be expressed in these terms. Form and Space are then what create the sphere of action.
Sphere of Action
The sphere of action refers to the area, where Abstract Motion occupies its points. See, if the Motion is not stationary because Zero is at its maximum velocity, then every point imaginable, has to be accounted for within this sphere. But nowhere it is actually stated that this sphere goes on without limits.
Because, putting it simply, we can see that this observable cosmos has no real outer limit. Therefore, to assume that the sphere of action in which “primordials”, a term I’m using for pre-Division Substance, developed and prepared themselves before the Division, has to be limited, is I think putting the cart before the horse.
Yes, we are assuming that true limitlessness in fact, has no limits in the sense of spatial dimensions. But if this Zero truly is formless, meaning it has no shape, one can still assert that it is possible to have a limit, but limit in the sense that its only limit is itself, which can be as limitless as it damn well pleases.
Then again, if something is Ineffable and beyond concepts, it might as well be infinite. But what if infinity is a finite concept, only existing in this cosmos? It would mean that true infinity, might not be infinity at all but something else entirely, which we cannot even comprehend.
Getting back to the sphere of action. More precisely, it would be called an actionless sphere because no tangible motion is happening within it. As said, this is Motion in its most absolute state, and yet it is stillness.
This sphere is also somewhat in a strange state. Because simultaneously, it has to accommodate all points, and no points. Because, as said, the velocity is so great that it never stops being everywhere. And secondly, all the seemingly different aspects are really the Zero, all the time. And since its Being is not Beingness, but Beinglessness, it means that it cannot contain a point outside itself.
So what has to happen next (as if time were a thing yet, which it isn’t), to occupy specific points within the sphere, is that eternity or the velocity of Zero has to introduce an aspect which is slowed down from the rest of it. This aspect is the same as the Great Expansion, or the Thought in the Reflection mode as a whole.
Slow Down, Eternity
What follows (still not a causal sequence), is the “deceleration” of Form and Space into Substance. Eternity is now slowing down, or at least seemingly slowing down. Abstract Space “mixes” with Form, and together they make up, as one might put it, the substratum of Energy. Keeping in mind that this sphere is still active, not passive. So this Thought that is expanding, is also active, even though it seems motionless in our thinking.
The pre-Division mode before the Division is now occupied with five distinct aspects. First is Beinglessness, second is Abstract Motion, third is Abstract Space, fourth is pre-Division Substance, and the fifth is pre-Division Reflection (not the Greater Reflection which takes place in the circle).
And so that diagram would now look like this:
BEINGLESSNESS
/ \
/ \
/ ZERO \
/ \
/ \
MOTION−−−−−−−−−−−−−−SPACE
| |
REFLECTION−−−−−−−−−−SUBSTANCE
| | |
CONSCIOUSNESS HELIX ENERGY
\ (DUALITY) /
\ /
SPACE−AND−MOTION
And note, that we are still operating purely in the pre-Division era, before the Cosmos with its Energy, tangible Space and Motion becoming things. So I find it extremely difficult to lay down words about this, as it is insanely thin. Granted, I also have a tremendous amount of studying to be done regarding the mentioned, but now you know why I stated at the beginning what I did. Well anyway.
So what is it that stirs the “waters” of this Beinglessness, creates the pre-Division Reflection and this Consciousness from it in the cosmos? What is it that puts forward Space, which turns into pre-Division Substance, and finally to Energy?
First Motion
Zero-axiom then is that which is the fons et origo of the Abstract Motion. Motion is the pre-conceived state of the Formless, which stands as distinct from Space. Motion later becomes the pre-Division Reflection modality, which refers to the “rumination period” of Consciousness in the pre-Division mode. It is the aspect of the Thought which contains the seeds for the “units” in the post-Division era, including the Ego or the barrier.
Now, as you may have noticed in the diagram showing the Triangle of Zero-axiom, Motion resides in the left, and there is a reason for it. Consciousness in the Cosmos will always operate from the left to the right, referring to the dynamic of flow within the units.
For example, there’s a duality between our left and right hemispheres. The left is always responsible for the active things, such as consciously reviewing and analysing data. Whereas the right is responsible for the passive and spontaneous things.
Whereas, Energy has the opposite movement, of flowing from the right to the left. This is the reason we get so surprised by the “raw physical processes” as they come at us, such as the weather. Because they are spontaneous. Because it flaunts our common left-flowing Consciousness.
And together this dual-flow constitutes what is called the Helix of Manifestation. This is why Lao Tzu, in his main work, Tao Te Ching, says the “Tao flows everywhere, both to the left and to the right.” This Tao is the same as the Helix. The Helix is the “serpent” of Consciousness and Energy, constituting the totality of the universe.
In the post-Division mode or Cosmos, this movement will effectively be reversed. Meaning that an “upside down” element enters into the units and the membrane. Which is something very, very, weird.
It means that polarity, is a mirror image or a reflection of the pre-Division era. What is up, is down, and what is inside, is outside. I will explain this, of course. So, this First Motion, was necessary for the Zero. Without it the Reflection (pre-Division Reflection) would be impossible and the Great Breath would not be so great.
The Pre-Universe
The pre-Division mode is preceded by the Formation of Substance which comes through Space. Reflection in turn is the extension of the Thought through Motion. But both of the modalities as they could be called, are aspects of the Zero-axiom.
Now, before the Great Division there is something called the Unmeasurable Dial, which “determines” or rather, adjusts the Helix of Manifestation. You could call it the link that distinguishes the pre- and post-Division state principles, or we might call them the Laws of Nature.
As this Dial adjusts the Energy available for the Cosmos, it has to “switch” the properties of the Substance in such a way that all the principles within it, are correctly distributed. As the saying goes, “one minor change in the initial conditions” and so on.
So, equally, the Dial has to adjust the available units of Consciousness within the universe. But here is where it gets relatively ambiguous. We might call these units Monads, borrowing the term from Gottfried Leibniz, were it not that the term Monad refers to “simple substances” that cannot be divided any further.
But in this view that I am talking about, the Monad is already Conscious. The point of the Monad is to essentially organize itself, by the process of complexification to use Pierre Teilhard’s word. Now, you may have noticed that I am specifically using the term Monad to refer to Consciousness and not Energy.
But the reason I am referring to it that way, is, as I said, they are one and the same entity behind the scenes or the pre-Division mode. But I am distinguishing Energy from Consciousness here for purposes of illustration.
The Unmeasurable Dial, is “alternating” and distributing between these Monads or units, and Energy. Otherwise, there would be no difference in our perception as to what differentiates a “thing”, from other things. All things are really Consciousness, and Energy simultaneously in the nondual view. But they are described this way because I distinguish raw physical processes in terms of the level of “resonance” they exhibit. And pure Energy is conscious to a much lesser degree. It is merely the potential of action created or used by Monads.
Dawn of Phenomena
Now the Great Division has happened. The Consciousness and Energy manifested as the Helix of Duality descends upon the Cosmos, instigating the Principles of Phenomena. The Cycle is starting. The Battery of Life is charged, willing and able to distribute the sparks of Energy, into wave-particles, which when heated into a tremendously dense point, causes the Superfluous Nova, or the Big Bang as we might call it.
The Monads become aware and are scattered in all ten directions with the Energy, instantly becoming more complex and less rarefied, densifying and gradually organizing themselves into the cosmological network. Complexification has taken its roots, and is now operating under spontaneous occurrence. This is another name for the Tao, which, being the course of nature, happens everywhere without premeditation.
This “Dueller” divides all polar experiences and points according to its internal code, which is made of two aspects, zero and one (ascension and recession in the work). Zero is the fundamental dividelessness, and one being the divider, which are direct reflections of the pre-Division era.
In this respect, the binary system of digital computers run parallel to nature’s own programming, which, as scientists will see eventually, is what will give credence even to the simulation theory.
The Helix
The Helix of Manifestation is the Symbiosis between Consciousness and Energy. But more than that, it is the phenomenon itself. It is the phenomenal divider and organizer, through which complexification is enabled. The Helix emanates on all planes and levels of existence in the Cosmos. Its main symbol is the familiar Yang & Yin, which refers to the duality between opposites or the zero and one of waves.
If you take away the tadpole and the eyes, what is left is the empty circle, Tai Chi or the Great Ultimate, which refers to Sunyata in Buddhism, or the “selfless” emptiness of things. But emptiness does not mean without Consciousness.Rather, it refers to their interdependence, meaning that no phenomenal event, exists independently of its surrounding events. They are void of independence.
The Helix nature of phenomena can be seen among others, in the duality between our DNA genetic makeup, our brain’s hemispheres, the global polarity of our planet, down to the distinctions between rationality and intuition, or thoughts and emotions.
When the post-Division era begins, the Helix has a distinct role, in distributing the various Monads and Energetic compounds across the Cosmos, but it does it as was said, spontaneously, in that it has no predestination, nor a plan. Now, how can that be?
Well, as was stated in the chapter on The Principle, the ultimate reality wants a surprise for itself, and so it will not, as it were, decide what to do when a new cycle starts. Rather, it loses its control and gets absorbed into the Reflection and then the Cosmos.
So then. The Helix is the fundamental “positioner” of phenomena and the principles of nature. These principles vary from wave-particles and their behaviour, to more complex and larger systems.
Progression of Things
Now, both Consciousness and Energy are gradually getting more complex with the passage of “time”. And that process is what Teilhard calls complexification, which I described in The Cosmological Network article more or less.
As the Helix “orders” phenomena, it organizes the behaviour of events within the Cosmos in such a way as to evolve gradually into more intelligent systems. And these systems are not confined to mere biological aspects.
They can range from social, societal, technological and spiritual levels of complexification as well. For example, the “path” in spirituality is called that because it is believed that there is a progression of some kind. But that is, depending on who you ask, a hallucination. “There is no path,” like The Diamond Sutra says.
And here I must draw up a point on the progression of things. It is common to both my own and Watts’s thinking, among others, that there is a dimension in which there is no such thing as a continuation. The “spring does not become the summer,” to quote Dogen, a Zen master.
Even though the gradual complexification can be seen in systems, that does not mean automatically that absolutely everything has to have this evolutionary aspect. As Nagarjuna explains in his Middle Way or Madhyamaka philosophy, the Samsara, and Nirvana are not existing as two distinct entities.
It means that the so-called progression that the individual is supposed to take on when entering the spiritual life, is, in a way, a delusion. Because Zen in particular says that you’re sitting here now, are already being enlightened. So in this respect, I agree with them.
The evolution of mammals, for example, is pretty clear. There is no doubt about it. But the spiritual evolution, is true in a sense, but at the same time it is a hoax. It is, like I said, depending on who you ask. Teilhard seems to think that all the manifested Cosmos is moving towards the Omega Point, and I partly agree.
But the reason Watts had a distaste for the progression of things, was that it parallels our projection of continuation to things that are actually spontaneous. And this is why it may seem contradictory, when I say that the universe has a cycle. Because if it is cyclical, then the progression makes perfect sense. So how can things be simultaneously spontaneous and progressing?
Well, when you suddenly clap your hands, without any indication that you’re about to do so, does that intervene with the Cosmos’s cycle? Of course not. So it is the level of action without premeditation in phenomena. And yet, it is taken to such extremely fine and eloquent degrees, that the “story” aspect of the cycle seems to be hidden from our sight. And I described that half-assed in the Greatest Story Never Told article. So, to wrap this up, let my try to summarize this brief cosmology.
The End?
The Zero-axiom is the causeless cause. It is the plenum of the manifested Cosmos, which is a cyclical event, in which the conscious beings, principles and nature are simultaneously one reality. There is no such thing as a separated thing.
The Celestial Lattice is the “ground” on which the cycles of universes take place. It breathes them into the circle, which then becomes the sphere of action for the Reflection of the Zero.
The Zero has three aspects, Beinglessness, Abstract Motion, and Abstract Space, which formulate or Reflect the Cosmos into being. The Dial is the arranger of Abstract Substance and Abstract Reflection into what will later become the Energy and Monads or units of Consciousness.
The Cosmos is a play, or a game, in which Consciousness pretends to be separate from other units. The Helix is the divider of phenomena, that arranges the Monads and Energy into a symbiotic relationship, which manifest in all planes of existence.
Phenomena are organized internally by a code which comprises zeros and ones, which is the blueprint for the duality of wave-particles. This process is then self-organized by the process of eventuation (explained earlier in my book) or complexification into more complex systems of patterns.
The human being is the supposed culmination of this eventuation, at least as far as the public knows. Although, I find it difficult to believe that there would not be any more advanced beings in our Cosmos.
The universe is gradually complicating and developing through time, into the point of either dissolving or the advancement into the highest possible state. Some believe the universe is destroyed in the end, others think it is becoming more intelligent, until reaching the Omega Point.
Personally, I see it being the prior, as I have observed the general dissolving of my life, which, I think, is a reflection of the macro scale Cosmos and its “progression” back into the Pralaya period, which means the total dissolution of the universe, where it retreats into the dormant state, until restarting another universe all over again. So, there it is, in a nutshell. My idea of something crazy.
Thank you and good night.
